Michael says so

"Have you looked into the eyes of a climate scientist recently? They look really scared."

You may already know of Michael Pollan, a US journalist based in San Francisco. I got a fine introduction when I came across his article about climate change and the brilliance of growing one's own vegetable garden. While it's tempting to go about our days as we always have, isn't it way sexier and more adventurous to try something that's good for the earth?

Michael says, "If you do bother [to alter your habits and mindset], you will set an example for other people. If enough other people bother, each one influencing another in a chain reaction of behavioral change, markets for green products and alternative technologies will prosper and expand. Consciousness will be raised, perhaps even changed: new moral imperatives and new taboos might take root in the culture."

I think that if we all rise to the occasion, we can make the seemingly gigantic-humungo-mammoth task of changing the world a breeze. And people of the future will be like "Gosh darn, those humans that preceded us were awesome". Think about it.
