Up Instead of Out

And speaking of catchy memes, here's one I absolutely adore:

When it comes to building houses, neighborhoods, towns, the old way was spread out and everyone gets a yard to mow.

The new way is to grow up, literally.

"Up instead of Out"

It is very efficient to stack humans, because then they can all share a central heating, water, and recycling system. It is a very social way to live, not to mention one very important aspect: you don't have to park a car. You don't even have to own one.

So, instead of a huge expanse of identical tract houses, (shudder...) think instead of one beautiful eco-tower, sitting amidst unspoiled wilderness.

What if you had five families, each in their own house, and each house on one acre of land. What if the five families got together, created a beautiful, environmentally sustainable five-unit building, and then they worked together to rehab the land formerly occupied by their old houses? Then you've got five happy families who can support and entertain each other, now free to enjoy a four acre park surrounding their masterpiece. Marvelous.

Driveways and lawns need to go the way of the dodo.

So, instead of this:

Together is more fun than apart!

Heck yeah!

Be excellent to each other.

Love,

SF
